Every month I'll share a spark of science, a moment of mindfulness, and a whisper from the wild to inspire your journey.
🔬 Science Spark: Joy is a skill. And it’s one worth practicing. Positive emotions like joy, gratitude, and awe have been shown to enhance motivation, creativity, and social connection. And no, this doesn’t mean ignoring pain or pretending everything’s fine. It means intentionally practicing joy, even in small moments, to help your nervous system recalibrate and your mind reset. Research suggests that the capacity to experience positive emotions may be a fundamental human strength that is central to studying human flourishing. Learn more.
🌿 Mindful Moment: When did you last revisit a good memory? Many of us rarely make it a priority to focus on the things that bring a smile to our faces, like a loved one or a recent accomplishment. Try taking a moment to reflect on one thing today that made you smile. Let it fully sink in with a few deep breaths into the heart. Notice how that feels, and remember you can pull that out any time you need.
🌅 Nature’s Nudge: Birdsongs, blooming flowers, and dappled light offer micro-moments of delight. See if you can find wild details in nature to savor today.
